(Ft. Wayne, IN) - Indiana Michigan Power is monitoring the forecast as severe weather is expected Wednesday evening, potentially impacting I&M’s Michigan and South Bend/Elkhart districts.
The severe conditions are anticipated to bring heavy rain, frequent lightning and strong winds, which may contribute to power outages.

- I&M is closely monitoring the weather forecasts, especially for Wednesday evening, as a round of severe weather is expected. I&M is prepared to safely and quickly respond.

In advance of Wednesday’s weather, now is the time to make sure you’re informed in case a power outage occurs at your home or business. Stay connected with the following:

Prepare an Emergency Kit
An emergency kit should include non-perishable food, water, flashlights, batteries, first aid kit and medications. Don’t forget any special needs for children or pets. Get a complete checklist.

Make a Plan in Case of Extended Outages
Check with the elderly and those with medical conditions to ensure they have a plan. If you are on life support or need power for health reasons, make alternate arrangements in case of outages.

Be Safe

NEVER Touch Downed Lines
Don't remove tree limbs or debris if it's within 10 feet of a power line. Remember, all downed lines can be dangerous.

Power lines carry enough electricity to cause serious or even fatal injuries. If you see downed lines or sparking equipment, call 911 or I&M at 800-311-4634 immediately!

Do Not Plug Generators into Your Circuit Box
Portable generators "backfeed" electricity and risk the lives of repair workers and the public. Plug appliances directly into the generator. Get important safety details.
