(La Porte, IN) - The La Porte Police Department SWAT team was involved in an arrest on Tuesday. 

 

Police said Kyron Meriweather-Burks, 21, was taken into custody on multiple felony warrants.  The alleged crimes include domestic battery and armed robbery.  Police said he was arrested without incident.

 

The SWAT team was activated as a precaution due to his extensive history of committing crimes and carrying guns, police said.

 

“Yesterday’s operation exemplifies the level of dedication and preparedness our officers demonstrate every day.  Our SWAT Team and law enforcement partners acted with precision and restraint, ensuring the safety of all involved and the surrounding community,” police said.

 

There were no injuries.  So far, further information has not been revealed.
