(Fish Lake, IN) - A man grabbed a garden hose but it wasn’t enough to keep his burning garage from being heavily damaged in Fish Lake.

 

Just after 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 12th, volunteer firefighters from Pleasant and Lincoln townships responded to the 100 block of Arney Drive. 

 

La Porte County Police said a husband and wife smelling smoke went outside and made the discovery.

 

Kenneth Heuer, 42, told investigators he grabbed a garden hose but he was overwhelmed in his effort to put out the flames, police said.  Firefighters soon arrived and began putting out the fire.

 

Police said the fire produced thick black smoke from the man’s Jeep and several gas cans burning inside the garage.  The cause of the fire was still investigation.
