Impromptu DeLorean Reunion in La Porte

(La Porte, IN) - Last weekend the parking lot of the La Porte County Historical Society looked like the time lines of all three Back to the Future movies collided— minus Marty and Doc.

On Saturday not one, not two, but three authentic DeLorean automobiles rolled up to the museum. “They were part of a car club,” Assistant Director Savanah Jackson said of the unexpected visitors. “I know one is from Elkhart. They were Kevin, Keith, and Danny, and they wanted to see our DeLorean.”

La Porte’s 1982 DMC DeLorean, with stainless steel body and gull-wing doors, is housed on the second floor of the museum. Just over 6,000 DeLoreans still exist. On Saturday four of them were in La Porte. Jackson said they were able to determine that at least one of the visiting cars was manufactured within a few months of La Porte’s car, which was collected by Dr. Peter Kesling and his wife Charlene.

Even more vintage cars—who knows, maybe a DeLorean or two—will be featured at the museum this upcoming Saturday, July 19, for the La Porte Historical Society’s annual car show.
