(La Porte County, IN) - La Porte County Police say a man was badly impaired when he wiped out on a moped late yesterday afternoon.

 

Michael Hobson, 57, of La Porte was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

 

Police said the investigation shows Hobson about 5 p.m. fell to the ground after his eastbound moped went off the edge of the pavement in the area of 150 North and 350 East.

 

His blood alcohol level registered .306 percent on a portable breathalyzer test, but he refused to take a certified test, police said.

 

Police said Hobson suffered a small open wound on his wrist from the spill. The charge was upgraded to a Level 6 felony due to a prior OWI conviction from 2021.
