(Michigan City, IN) - A driver fleeing police in Michigan City yesterday was seriously hurt in a crash.
Police said officers were called to the 1200 block of Elston St. on a shots fired complaint, but the suspect was gone when they showed up.
The suspect was later located in a vehicle, though, in the area of Broadway and Fairfield.
During a traffic stop, police said it appears the suspect pointed a gun at the officer and drove off at high speeds. The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle struck a garage at S. Roeske and Killdeer avenues.
So far, the name of the suspect, who wound up being transferred to a hospital in Chicago with life threatening injuries, has not been released.
The investigation was turned over to Indiana State Police at the request of the Michigan City Police Department.
