(Michigan City, IN) - A Michigan City man could face prison time in connection with the firing of gunshots during a fight last week.
Anthony Neal, 36, is charged with Level 5 felony criminal recklessness and Level 4 felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
According to police, the shots were fired in response to juveniles fighting on July 3 in the area of Edward and Thomas streets.
Police said the investigation places Neal during the firing of gunshots next to a pick-up truck where a live round and bullet cartridge were recovered.
The seized items were from the same caliber gun found inside a residence occupied by Neal prior to him coming out to talk to the police, according to court documents.
Police said Neal told investigators his daughter was among the juveniles involved in the altercation. A least one of the rounds fired was recovered from the front porch of a nearby home.
According to court records, Neal has a prior conviction for dealing cocaine from 2023.
