(La Porte, IN) - A man accused of pointing a gun at two police officers in La Porte is scheduled for an initial court hearing this week.
Corterius Crawford, 23, is charged with five counts including pointing a loaded firearm, a Level 6 felony.
According to police, two officers about a month ago responded to Pine Lake Resort and Banquets on a report that Crawford pulled a gun on a friend at the hotel.
Police said the officers knocked on the door of a room. Crawford opened the door and allegedly pointed a handgun at the two officers, who quickly took cover.
Soon, Crawford left the room through a rear sliding door and was last seen running from the hotel across Pine Lake Ave., police said.
He was taken into custody last week.
Police said a large amount of marijuana along with the stolen gun were recovered from the room.
His initial hearing is scheduled Friday in La Porte Circuit Court.
According to court records, Crawford is also charged with Level 4 felony possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon due to a prior robbery conviction.
