Man Cited for Large Trash Pile Fire

(Kingsbury, IN) - Firefighters were called twice on Thursday to put out a large pile of burning trash in the Kingsbury area. Just after 2 a.m.,  emergency responders were called to a home in the 2100 block of East 450 South where, upon arrival, La Porte County Police said flames were shooting high into the air from the residence's backyard.

A man at the home reportedly explained that he had set some debris on fire in a burning barrel, burning embers from which then setting the large pile of trash on fire.

After clearing the scene, firefighters were soon called back when the flames reignited. Once extinguished, police said burned plastic, bottles and cans were noticed within the burnt pile of garbage.

The man, Glynn Anderson, Jr., 35, was cited for Open Burning.
