(St. Joseph County, IN) - A semi-trailer engulfed in flames closed down a portion of the Indiana Toll Road Friday evening.

The incident happened just after 7:30 p.m. about one mile west of the South Ben/Notre Dame exit. According to State Police spokesperson Sgt. Ted Bohner, a brake fire on an eastbound semi spread to its refrigerated trailer. The driver was able to separate the tractor from the trailer.

Eastbound lanes were shut down for a couple of hours while firefighters handled the blaze. No injuries were reported.
