(La Porte, IN) - A La Porte student is going to the nation’s capital to take part in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Nolan Roule is an 8th grader at St. John’s Lutheran School who has qualified for the national spelling contest after proving himself as his school's spelling champ and then advancing to become the La Porte County spelling champion.
School Secretary Katie Campbell said the boy will be given a send-off this afternoon at the school at 111 Kingsbury Avenue.
“All of the kids are going to be lining the hallway. They’re going to have the fire department out here blocking off part of the parking lot for his send-off. Nolan came in this morning and was excited to see everyone showing their support,” she said.
The send-off is scheduled at 1:30 p.m.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee will be held over a three-day period beginning Tuesday.
