(La Porte County, IN) - Several pit bulls jumped a fence and killed some chickens next door just outside La Porte.
According to La Porte County Police, At about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the 1000 block of Severs Road, where Hipolito Placencia reported that about a half dozen of his chickens had been killed by the dogs after they jumped over the fence and into his yard. This was not the first instance of his backyard being invaded by dogs, having previously dealt with a similar situation in April.
Placencia told police he was more concerned about the safety of his two-year-old daughter, who plays in the backyard.
According to police, an officer spoke to Cassi Kring, who explained that her dogs, after being let outside in her fenced-in yard, took off and jumped the fence into her neighbor’s yard. She apologized and promised to increase the height of her fence and place the dogs on leashes in the future. She was given a verbal warning under an ordinance governing dogs running at large.
