(La Porte County, IN_ = A Sunday afternoon collision outside La Porte claimed the lives of a motorcyclist and their passenger.

 

Per La Porte County Police, emergency responders were called at about 1 p.m. to the 3400 block of North U.S. 35.

 

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle reportedly veered off the highway to the right before traveling across a lawn and striking a tree along with some landscaping. The 2012 Can-Am Spyder motorcycle continued from there, crashing into some boulders before finally coming to rest in a vegetable garden.

 

The driver, 58-year-old Steven Dabney, died at a hospital. The passenger, 59-year-old Anna Thomas, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both victims were from Kingsford Heights.

 

The results of a toxicology test to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash were not immediately known, police said.
