(Rolling Prairie, IN) - You know summer is near when Old Glory blossoms on small town flag poles. Friday afternoon was a perfect day for hanging American Flags, which is what volunteers with the Kankakee Township Fire Department were doing.
Fire Chief Zach Rasiuk drove the department's tanker truck up and down Rolling Prairie's Michigan Street stopping at every other utility pole. Perched atop the tanker was Kevin Welton, a four-year volunteer with the department. He unfurled the flags and placed them carefully in brackets, where they'll patriotically decorate the town all summer.
The flags were provided by the Rolling Prairie Business & Community Association.
