(La Porte, IN) - It was like chasing a turtle, perhaps, but it took several minutes along with a few police officers to capture him.

 

41-year old Luke Warner is charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Level 6 felony Resisting Law Enforcement.

 

Officers responded to Speedway on East Lincolnway about 1 AM on Sunday. Police said the caller was concerned about yelling and other strange behavior from Warner in the parking lot.

 

When approached, Warner allegedly got back into his car and drove off. He was pursued by several police vehicles with their flashing lights on, but Warner wouldn’t stop. Instead, he went down several streets at about 20 miles per hour the entire time until pulling over.

 

Police said it appears his strange behavior at the gas station might have something to do with his desire to have a cigarette. He supposedly quit smoking and was fighting the urge to buy a pack.
