Museum Closed Again for Roof Work

(La Porte, IN) - The La Porte County Historical Society museum is again temporarily closed. Recently, the museum shut the doors for several days to allow a new roof to be put on.

Diane Adams, assistant director of the museum, said the temporary closure is from the skylights being replaced with new ones. The new skylights have been ordered and should arrive sometime in the coming days.

LaPorte County Commissioner Rich Mrozinski said work is finishing up on the new roof but heavy rains last night leaked through parts of the old portion of the roof on the building.

The leaking didn’t cause any significant flooding but was enough that some of the antique vehicles and other belongings had to be wiped off.

The old skylights were taken out because new ones were expected to arrive by now.

According to Mrozinski, there’s been a delay in receiving the order, which should be delivered by the first week in October.
