(LaPorte, IN) - Starting today, free bus rides are offered in LaPorte.

It’s only for essential travel.

Transporte is also scaling back its hours.

Buses will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mayor Tom Dermody says free rides are offered to places like grocery stores,

pharmacies and doctor’s appointments.

The changes at Transporte will remain until further notice.
