La Porte County has the fifth-highest unemployment rate in the state. According to Workforce Development,  the rate here is 4.2 percent. That’s slightly higher than Starke County, which has the 7^th highest unemployment rate.

In comparison, ake County has the second-highest unemployment rate at 4.9 percent. Porter County is  15^th at 3.6 percent and St. Joseph County is 25^th with an unemployment rate of 3.4 percent.

The lowest rate at 2.0 percent is in Dubois County east of Evansville.
