Police Wake-Up Call for Drug Dealer

(La Porte, IN) - It didn’t take long for a suspected La Porte drug dealer to develop a sense of urgency when police showed up at his doorstep.

Corey Lulofs, 29, has been charged in La Porte Circuit Court with Dealing in Methamphetamine and Dealing in a scheduled II substance, both Level 2 felonies.

According to court documents, at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday, officers showed up at his residence at 209 A Street. There, a public address system was used to order everyone out of the home, and Lulofs stepped out from the front door asking officers why they were at his residence.  When told it was for an ongoing drug dealing investigation, Lulofs reportedly responded he “needed a lawyer.”

Officers went inside and allegedly recovered 49 grams of orange-colored amphetamine pills inside a heat-sealed plastic bag. Another sealed plastic bag containing 79 grams of a crystal-like substance testing positive for methamphetamine was also located inside the residence.

He could face anywhere from a 10 to 30-year sentence on each count.

According to court records, Lulofs had a prior conviction for Possession of Cocaine in 2018. He received a 15-month sentence on probation and was required to take part in any recommended substance counseling.
