(La Porte, IN) - The La Porte High School baseball team is gearing up for its sectional opener this week, with the Slicers (16-10) to take on Plymouth (6-17).
La Porte is coming off a 12-4 victory Friday at Kankakee Valley after two consecutive losses, 5-0 and 3-2, to a very strong Valparaiso team.
Voice of the Slicers, Chip Jones, believes the Slicers have a chance at a sectional crown considering they were competitive even against the best teams they played during the regular season.
“We’ve hung with some really good teams,” he said.
The sectional opener at Plymouth is Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. Eastern. The Slicers defeated the Pilgrims last month 10 to 3.
“There’s definitely a chance but we got to win three games to do it,” he said.
