James S. Irons, 85, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 26, 2026, at 1:45 pm in Northwest Health-La Porte, IN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Mary Mother of Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Mary Campus, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana, with Daniel Raab officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, and from 10:30 am - 11:00 am Saturday at the church.
He was born October 21, 1941, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Raymond and Ruby (Wilde) Irons, Sr. On June 6, 1964, in Michigan City, IN, he married Kathleen Oshinski who survives in Michigan City, IN.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark (Sarah) Irons of La Porte, IN, and Matthew (Andrea) Irons of Germany; four grandchildren, Banjamin (Amanda) Irons, Nathaniel (Morgan) Irons, Adam Irons and Ethan Irons; and three great-grandchildren, Reid, Annie and Ada.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Bowers; and brother, Raymond Irons, Jr.
James retired after 31 years a control room operator at NIPSCO. He was a member of Mary Mother of Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Mary Campus and the NIPSCO Duneland Club. James enjoyed fishing.
