Victoria E. Wienhoft , 79, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 2:39 pm in Northwest Health-La Porte, La Porte, IN.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN is assisting with arrangements.
She was born July 25, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late John and Genevieve (Pytynia) Reed. Victoria graduated from Elston High School in 1966. On May 24, 1974, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Dale Wienhoft, who survives in La Porte, Indiana.
Also surviving are two sons, Brett Wienhoft of San Pierre, IN, Mark (Rikki ) Wienhoft of La Porte, IN; two grandchildren, Ryleigh, Sydney; sister, Gloria Lewis of Lyman, SC.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, grandchild, Benjamin; two brothers, Jack, Joe; two sisters, Marilyn, and Anna.
Victoria retired in 2008 as a special education bus driver for the Westville area school system, a job that meant a great deal to her. She genuinely cared for the children she transported and enjoyed getting to know them and their families over the years. Her kindness, patience, and caring nature made her well suited for the work she loved so much.
Victoria will be remembered by her family and friends for her wonderful sense of humor and her ability to make people laugh, even in the most ordinary moments. She had a warm personality, a quick wit, and a way of bringing joy to those around her. She enjoyed working on puzzles and could spend hours putting the pieces together, appreciating both the challenge and the quiet time they provided.
She also had a very special place in her heart for animals and wildlife. As a wildlife rehabilitator, Victoria devoted her time to caring for injured and orphaned animals and helping give them a second chance. Her compassion for animals was simply another reflection of the caring and
generous person she was. Above all, Victoria treasured the people and animals she loved, and her family will always remember the laughter, kindness, and warmth she brought into their lives.
