Arthur "Art" Bertram Cohan, 83, of Brentwood of La Porte Senior Living, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Northwest Health-La Porte.
Arthur was born on December 31, 1942, in Gary, IN, to Arch Bertram and Rose Lilian (Lovine) Cohan.
On October 26, 1968, in Tracy, IN, he married Donna Ellen Kessler who preceded him in death. Surviving are his children, Ann (James) Shaffer of La Porte, Adele (Chris) Riffle of Burghill, OH, and Amy Cohan of La Porte; grandchildren, Spenser and Kaitlynn Shaffer of Hobart, Grace Shaffer of Valparaiso, Rebekah Shaffer of Terre Haute, and Mika DePofi of Douglasville, GA; great-granddaughter, Sienna Shaffer of Hobart; and nieces, Pam Hunsley and Debra Grieger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Donna; and sisters, Arlene Cohan and Agnes Simmons.
Art proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked as a manager at Thomas Steel Mill in Warren, Ohio, until his retirement. Art was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Tracy and the American Legion Post #83. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout. Art enjoyed gardening and golfing.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Tracy Cemetery in Hamlet.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4 - 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
