Michael “Mike” Byron Pavey Sr., 66, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
He was born on August 13, 1960, in La Porte to the late Dallas “Gene” and Marilyn “Mona” (Schultz) Pavey.
Mike was the co-owner of Pavey Excavating in La Porte. He was a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 1978 graduate of La Porte High School.
On February 14, 1981, Mike married Julie Lasky, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Jane (Elliott) King of Zionsville, Indiana; Byron Pavey of La Porte; Michael (Michelle) Pavey Jr. of La Porte; Matthew Pavey of La Porte; Joseph Pavey of La Porte; Kevin Pavey of La Porte; John Pavey of La Porte; and Joshua Pavey (Adin Um) of La Porte; 14 grandchildren; and his siblings, Laurie (Mark) Strojny, Vickie (John) Partain, Paula (Chris) Heagy, Robert (Roxy) Pavey, and Thomas (Stacey) Pavey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin grandsons, Cohen and Brody Pavey; and a brother, Terrence Pavey.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, 7012 N-600 E, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home prior to the Mass.
Burial will follow at St. John Kanty Cemetery.
