Robert D. Hood, November 10, 1950 - August 22, 2026.

Robert D. Hood, 75, Long Beach, Indiana, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:58 pm in Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center, Chesterton, IN.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, on  Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Mary Mother of  Mercy Catholic Parish -  Notre Dame Campus with  Rev. Daniel Raab officiating. Private burial took place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, IN. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Wednesday, at the church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

He was born November 10, 1950, in Chicago, IL, to the late Robert G. and Dolores (Lewis) Hood.

Surviving are his sister, Patricia McDonald of Long Beach, IN; aunt, Georgiana Shinn of Michigan City, IN; and many cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Georgiana Hood. 

Robert was employed as an Operations Manager at McKesson Corporation for over thirty years. He was a member of Mary Mother of Mercy Catholic Parish - Notre Dame Campus. He was a member of the great Elston Red Devil basketball teams of the late 1960's and went on to play basketball at Western Michigan University. Robert loved sports, cycling, was an avid walker and a Chicago Bears season ticket holder.
