Julia Rose Janas

Julia Rose Janas, March 18, 1978, - August 27, 2026.

Julia Rose Janas was born on March 18, 1978, in St. Thomas, Ontario, later moving to Berrien Springs, Michigan, and finally to her longtime home of La Porte, Indiana.

Julie will be remembered for her love and kindness, which she gave openly and consistently. She was a 10-year 4-H member raising and showing poultry and rabbits. Growing up, she was also an avid swimmer, participating on the New Prairie High School Swim Team from her freshman to senior years. She loved movies and was often the first to see new films in the theater, giving her family thoughtful and critical reviews. She developed a love of cross-stitch after being taught by her Aunt "T" and continued to create and gift beautiful pieces throughout her life. She was a lifelong reader and incredibly talented at crossword puzzles and jumbles. She was also a devoted letter writer, consistently sending cards to her extended family and friends and never forgetting a birthday or occasion. More than anything, Julie wanted to help people and share kindness, often giving small gifts and roses to friends around La Porte.

The love and support Julie shared with her beloved husband, William, will always be treasured. She is survived by her loving husband, William Foster; her parents, Patty and Joe Janas; her siblings, Jeff (Tyng) Janas, Joe (Jen) Janas, and Jeanie (Adam) Janas Ritter; her nephews and niece, Jack and George Ritter, and Theo and Romy Janas; her aunt, Mary Fara; and her loving cat, Rose.

She was preceded in death by her aunt and uncles, Theresa Fara, John Fara, and Frank Fara, and her loyal dog, Ginger.

Please honor Julie by sending a card to someone on your mind and making the effort to show kindness to someone who needs it, as she always did.

A Memorial service will be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte.
