Geraldine Marganti, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026.

 

She was born on May 29, 1943, in La Porte to the late Rolland and Leona (Morehouse) Evans.

 

Geraldine is survived by her children, Chad Green and T.J. Green; grandchildren, Travis Batts and Kaitlyn Green; and sister, Rita Griffin; step-son, Roy (Bridgitte) Marganti; and step-grandchildren, Brandi Marganti, Brianna Marganti, and Brittany Marganti.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Laurie Bates; her brother, Larry Evans; and her two husbands.

 

Geraldine worked for many years as an Assistant Manager with Family Dollar. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching the deer and other wildlife in her yard, and spending time with her beloved dog, Mya. Geraldine had a special appreciation for fireworks and enjoyed listening to live music at Red Wine & Brew. She loved to dance and, most of all, cherished the time she spent with her family.

 

Geraldine will be remembered for her loving and caring nature and the special place she held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Pine Lake Cemetery, with Pastor Jeri Gowin officiating.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
