Thomas B. Kelso, 76, Porter, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 8:42 pm in Northwest Health-Porter, Valparaiso, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86 E. Oak Hill Road, Chesterton, Indiana, with Dr. Jeremiah Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, Indiana. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10:00 am -11:00 am in the Fairhaven Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born September 27, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Keith and Mary (Boyle) Kelso. On April 16, 1983, in Topeka, Kansas, he married Nancy Woodruff, who survives Porter, Indiana. Also surviving are his daughter, Michelle (James) Birney of Gulfport, Mississippi; two sons, Daniel (Renee) Kelso of Vallejo, California, and Michael Kelso of Porter, Indiana; five grandchildren, Bryce Kelso, Ashlynn Kelso, Jackson Birney, Winston Birney, and Callista Birney; brother, Richard (Pat) Kelso of Omaha, Nebraska;
Tom was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church, Chesterton, Indiana. He had a degree in engineering, working for Boeing, Wichita, Kansas. His love and life was being a professor at the Fairhaven Baptist College, Chesterton, Indiana. Tom enjoyed tinkering with many electronic projects and electrical repairs and enjoyed gardening during the summer season.
