Margarita Vega Torres

Margarita Vega Torres, 52, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Raclin Hospice House, with her family by her side.

She was born on November 28, 1973, in Cerrito Colorado, Yurécuaro, Michoacán, Mexico, to Antonio Vega Flores and Eduviges Torres Moreno.

On April 4, 1998, in Mexico City, Mexico, she married Edmundo Rodriguez Martell, who survives. Also surviving are her three children, Michelle Rodriguez, Sharon Rodriguez, and Daniel Rodriguez, formerly of Chicago and now residing in La Porte; her mother, Eduviges Torres of Mexico City; her sisters, Maria Guadalupe and Josephina Vega, both of Chicago; her brother, Luis Antonio Vega of Mexico; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Antonio Vega Flores.

Margarita was a devoted homemaker who took great care of her family and home. She attended and was actively involved at Christ Gospel Church in La Porte, where she and her husband served together as Sunday School teachers for the Intermediate class.

She enjoyed gardening, hiking, and listening to mariachi music. Most days, her children could find Margarita quietly thinking. She loved to learn and had an appetite and curiosity for life.

Margarita loved children and had a special heart for the forgotten, shaped in part by the loss of her own father at a young age. She understood the importance of compassion, care, and making others feel remembered.

Most importantly, Margarita dearly loved the Lord and her family. Her life was devoted to caring for the people she loved, and her faith remained at the center of who she was.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Christ Gospel Church, La Porte, with Pastor Ricky Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
