William J. “Bill" Cammett, 56, of Granger, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 2:44 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Mary Mother of Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Mary Campus, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Daniel Raab officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Following Mass, burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery with close family and friends. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
Bill was born December 2, 1969, in Michigan City, Indiana, to William G. and Barbara A. (Bajgerewicz) Cammett. On June 9, 2007, in Town Creek, Alabama, he married Heidi Whitt, who survives in Granger, Indiana. Also surviving are his two sons, Balthasar Cammett and Kasimir Cammett, both of Granger, Indiana; three sisters, Julie (Eric) Bassler of Washington, Indiana, Jill (Brad) Houston of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Lisa (Jerry) Fedorchak of La Porte, Indiana; and his beloved Olde English Bulldog, Bella.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara A. Cammett.
Heidi, Balthasar, & Kasimir were his world. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an incredibl sense of humor and could make just about anyone laugh. More than that, he genuinely loved making people feel good and had a way of bringing happiness and laughter wherever he went. Throughout his life, Bill touched the lives of so many people, and those who knew him will remember not only how funny he was, but also how deeply he cared about the people around him.
Bill graduated from Marquette High School in 1988, where he was standout athlete. He later graduated with a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and worked for many years in sales.
A lifelong sports fan, Bill faithfully cheered for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears and was especially proud of his Indiana University Hoosiers. Whether he was golfing, skiing, fishing, playing his guitar, attending a concert, watching a game, or simply spending time with the people he loved, he made the best of every moment.
He will be missed beyond words by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is at peace and that the love, laughter, and memories he gave them will remain with them always.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made toward Balthasar and Kasimir’s college education funds.
