Christopher F. de Bruyn, 62, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away embraced in the love of his family on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Private family services will be held at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Christopher was born January 26, 1964, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Frank and Trudy de Bruyn.

Surviving are his son, Christopher (Jenna) de Bruyn II of Michigan City, Indiana; brother, Stephen (Karen) de Bruyn of La Porte, Indiana; sister Maria de Bruyn of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and granddaughter, Adalynn de Bruyn of Michigan City, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Christopher worked for many years as a self-employed painter and was known for being an exceptionally hard worker. He was an avid fisherman who had a deep appreciation for nature and a special fondness for animals. Christopher will be remembered as a kind soul with a big heart and for the love he had for his family and the world around him.
