Bernard "Bernie" Harvey Laufmann

Bernard "Bernie" Harvey Laufmann, 90, of La Porte, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Miller's Merry Manor-Walkerton.

Bernard was born on July 22, 1936, in Milwaukee, WI, to Benjamin O. and Millicent (Kuzniak) Laufmann.

On August 18, 1962, in Trenton, TN, he married Nancy Lynn Rawdon preceded him in death on June 19, 2026. Surviving are his daughters, Lori (David) Chambers of La Porte and Lisa (Scott) Smucker of Sterling, VA; 5 grandchildren, Nicole (Craig) Egan of La Porte, Brad (Briann) Chambers of Sartell, MN, Cassie (Andrew) Sacks of La Porte, Steven (Lexie) Smucker of Leesburg, VA, and Greg (Katie) Smucker of Plantation, FL; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin, Caitlynn, Makenzie, and Elijah Egan, all of La Porte, Levi, Aubri, and Malakai Chambers, all of Sartell, MN, Haleigh and Brynn Smucker of Leesburg, VA, Sirenna and Willa Smucker of Plantation, FL, and Savanna Sacks of La Porte; as well as nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Michael) Vance, Charles (Cindy) Johnson, and Kristopher (Marie) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Linda Fogus; sister, Beverly Johnson; and nephew, Rick Johnson.

Bernie worked as a teacher, teaching business subjects and driver's ed for over 30 years at La Porte High School. He was a member of La Porte Missionary Church. Bernie loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He also enjoyed traveling.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
