Barry Wayne Prosser, December 21, 1948 – July 19, 2026.

 

Barry Wayne Prosser, 77, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 3:21 p.m., on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

He was born December 21, 1948, in Michigan City, to Dale V. and Betty S. Smith Prosser.

 

Barry retired from Whirlpool Corp after 30 years of service. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from October 18, 1967 – October 15, 1973 as a E5-Srgt. Barry was a proud Marine, a Vietnam Veteran, and earned a Purple Heart during his service. He was a selfless man, who lived by an “everybody first” philosophy. Barry generously supported the World Vision mission through sponsorship.

Barry is survived by his loving son and daughter, Andrew (Cassie) Schulz and Amy Schulz; and a granddaughter, Finnley.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Greg Prosser.

 

A celebration of life viewing and visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, IN 46350, (219) 362-3100. Military honors will take place.
