Joe Curtis Fain, 89, of Mill Creek, IN, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Rest Haven of Grand Rapids, MI.
Joe was born on March 8, 1937, in Casey, IL, to Ralph and Nora (Biggs) Fain.
On October 27, 1962, in LaPaz, IN, he married Sharon Louise Welch, who preceded him in death on August 30, 2023. Surviving Joe are his 2 sons, Mark (Laurie) Fain of Adrian, MI and Dr. Daniel (Wendy) Fain of Ada, MI; 6 grandchildren Naomi Fain, Kaitlin (Jacob) Flannery, Joel Fain, Seth (Anne) Fain, John Fain, and Izayah Fain; 3 great-grandchildren, Aliza, Rory and Mack; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Pearl Beasley, Mary Briggs, and Audrey Briggs; and brothers, Wendell (Jean) Fain, and Elda "Bud" Fain.
Joe served in Vietnam as a Captain in the United States Air Force.
He worked as an engineer at NIPSCO for 27 years. Joe was also a school bus driver for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Liberty.
Joe was a man of strong faith, who enjoyed serving those around him. He loved farming his land, attending church, watching the news and reading. Most importantly, Joe loved the Lord and his family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at First Church of God--La Porte with Pastor Wayne Joyner officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
