Gail Mae Schroeder, 85, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at 8:24 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at Hartfield Village in Munster.

 

On August 4, 1962, in Chicago, she married Donald Schroeder who preceded her in death on April 14, 2021.

 

Gail loved the outdoors and the outdoor animals, especially cats, frogs, and birds. She enjoyed cooking and would spend a lot of time watching cooking shows but also football. Gail was also very artistic and loved to draw. She was an avid organizer and would utilize sticky notes whenever and wherever she could. Gail was also a supporter of her children and grandchildren, and youth in general. She was a member of the PTA, a den mother, and involved in the kids’ activities.

 

She is survived by three sons, Michael (Susan) Schroeder, Anthony (Hiromi) Satoh,and Jason (Michelle) Schroeder; and eight grandchildren, Erin, Devin, Naomi, Miyoko, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Brianne and Jacob.

 

Gail was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; two sisters, Paulette and Dawn.

 

A funeral celebrating her life will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2026 at Graceland Cemetery Chapel, 1505 Morthland Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383, with Pastor Joseph Watterson officiating. Visitation and viewing will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Entombment will follow. Graceland Cemetery is caring for the arrangements.
