Barbara Jean Skierkowski, 79, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 4:46 pm in Miller's Health & Rehab, La Porte, Indiana.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 23, 2026, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN, with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Wednesday, and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am on Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 5:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
She was born October 4, 1946, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Joseph and
Helen (Milcarek) Skierkowski.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Jo (Victor) Carmona of Columbus, OH, and Rita Skierkowski of Michigan City, IN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ann Marie Skierkowski, Ruth Ann Jacobs, Sister Helen Marie Skierkowski, SSND and Janet Edwards.
She was vice president of the fraud department at Bank of America, Chicago, IL. Barb was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and involved with the Rosary Society. She enjoyed helping others.
