Beverly Jean Parrett

Beverly Jean Parrett, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born on March 2, 1946, in La Porte, Indiana, Beverly dedicated her life not only to her family but also to her esteemed work at the La Porte County Assessor's Office. Her meticulous nature made her an integral part of the community, where she touched the lives of many through her professional and personal endeavors.

Beverly's spirit was vibrant, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A passionate Chicago Cubs fan, she never missed a game, cheering enthusiastically from the comfort of her home. As a member of two poker clubs, she loved the camaraderie that came with the game and often shared stories and laughter with her friends.

Her love for antiques drew her to garage sales, where she searched for hidden treasures, always with an eye for something special.

Beverly had a passion for nature and found serenity in feeding birds, taking the time to appreciate the beauty of the world around her. She also had a love for traveling within the U.S., where she created countless memories and forged connections with friends old and new along her journeys.

On August 8, 1964, at The Waterford-Wesley Methodist Church, in La Porte, Indiana, she married David "Johnny" Parrett, who preceded her in death on September 12, 2025.

Beverly is survived by a loving family that includes her son, Steven (Jodi) Parrett; son-in-law, Eric Hock, and many cherished nieces and nephews. The warmth of her love and the legacy of her kindness will continue to illuminate their lives.

Beverly was deeply devoted to her family, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren: Aly (Chris) Webb, Nick Hock, and Zoey Hock. She cherished each moment they spent together, whether it was sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply enjoying each other's company. Her heart was filled with love for her great-grandchildren, Karlee Jo and Emaline Webb, as she embraced her role as a great-grandmother with enthusiasm.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Alverta (Fulford) Metts; daughter, Lisa Hock; and her siblings, Sy Metts, Alice Horn, Roberta Fowler, Jane Gunther, Joan Sieber, and Andrew Metts.

A celebration of Beverly's life will be held from 1:00 p.m. (EST) until 7:00 p.m. (EST)., Sunday, July 12, 2026 at New Buffalo American Legion, 19139 US-12, New Buffalo, MI 49117.

Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Street, La Porte, Indiana, is entrusted with her services.

Beverly Jean Parrett will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for her love of family, her compassionate heart, and her ceaseless joy in the simple pleasures of life. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love she shared with all.
