Henry Timothy Hershman, known to many as Tim, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born on December 5, 1948, in Valparaiso, Indiana, and lived a life marked by steady work, deep devotion to family, and a strong sense of duty that carried through every chapter of his story.
Tim served his country as an Army veteran, a role that reflected the discipline and patriotism he carried throughout his life. After his military service, he built a long and respected career as a crane operator for Bethlehem Steel, where he earned a reputation as a proud steelworker and a dependable hand. Those who knew him understood that he approached his work with determination, pride, and an unwavering commitment to doing the job right.
Outside of work, Tim was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He loved to hunt and fish, and he especially enjoyed the companionship of his beloved beagles. He was known as a hardworking patriot who loved his family deeply, and he was generous to a fault. His kindness, loyalty, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Family was the center of Tim’s world. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kimberly Merlin; his sisters, Melinda “Boots”, Debbie Kay; his grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, and his wife Josy, Jillian, Juliet, Sierra, and her husband Samuel, and Marissa; and his great-grandchildren, Isla, Noah, Elisa, and Magnolia Jean; and his faithful nephew Shannon. He was preceded in death by his most beloved son, Timmy, as well as his first wife, Gloria, the mother of his only children. Also preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maxine Hershman; his sisters, Barbara, Henrietta “Joyce,” and Judy, and his second wife, Nina Kizer Hershman.
Tim’s life was one of service, hard work, and devotion, and his memory will remain strong in the hearts of those who loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and love that will be remembered with respect and gratitude.
