Kenneth was born May 4, 1950, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Harry and Margie (Kniola) Firanek. On April 27, 1974, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, he married the love of his life, Susan (Skibinski) Firanek, who survives.
Also surviving are his loving children, Angela (Jeremy) Reed of La Porte, Indiana, Alicia Firanek of La Porte, Indiana, and Adam (Bryttanie) Firanek of Michigan City, Indiana; eight cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin, Tyler, Logan, Mabel, Malakai, Renesmae, Atlas, and Iridessa; three great-grandchildren, Braiden, Joseph, and Paisley; sisters, Shirley Hardesty, Kathy Craft, and Joyce Bondzis; and brother, David Firanek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Allen Firanek; his sister, Patricia Holtkamp; and his brother, Daniel Firanek.
Kenneth retired in 2014 from the Westville Department of Corrections after dedicating many years of service there and at the Indiana State Prison. He was a faithful member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, once an active member of the St. Joseph Club, and a proud member of the Michigan City Fish and Game Club.
Kenneth enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer who loved spending time outdoors gardening, and he especially enjoyed gathering with family and friends for a game of cornhole. More than anything, he treasured the time spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
