Susan M. Malcer

Susan M. Malcer, 80, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 2:14 p.m. at Franciscan Health Michigan City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2026, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Private burial will take place. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel.
She was born on March 2, 1946, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Agnes (Brejda) Wiencek. On September 22, 1973, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Thomas Malcer, who preceded her in death on
June 10, 2019. 
Surviving are her daughter, Kari Weiss of Michigan City, Indiana; son, Kevin (Trish Taylor) Malcer of Michigan City, Indiana, and four grandchildren, Zachary (Kyle Shatto) Malcer, Jacob Weiss, Nathaniel Weiss, and Olivia Weiss. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
For more than 20 years, Susan owned and operated the Blue Rose Beauty Shop, where she not only built a successful business but also formed lasting friendships with her clients. Known for her warm personality, attentive ear, and welcoming spirit, she made everyone who sat in her chair feel valued and cared for.
Susan was a devoted and active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she served her parish as a Eucharistic minister and as a member of the Rosary Society. She found joy and purpose in her involvement with the church community and lived her faith through acts of kindness and service. 
In her free time, Susan enjoyed crafting, a hobby that allowed her creativity and care to shine. She also loved traveling, especially the many trips she and her husband took to Florida in their R.V., creating memories that she cherished deeply. Above all, Susan treasured time spent with her family, whether gathered at home or camping together, where laughter, stories, and togetherness were always in abundance.
