Robert Louis Christensen

Robert Louis Christensen, 66, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026. He was born on January 1, 1960, in Kankakee, Illinois, to the late Louis and Sandra (Seborg) Christensen.

Robert was employed as a Manuscript Developer with Vanair, a Lincoln Electric Company in Michigan City, Indiana.

He was a 1978 graduate of Michigan City Rogers High School and continued his education at Purdue University and Ivy Tech. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an F-14 designer and systems engineer, and graduated top of his class of more than 400 at Miramar Naval Base in San Diego.

A talented self-taught musician, Robert played both guitar and piano and enjoyed writing original music. He also had a passion for acting and singing, notably portraying Jesus Christ in Godspell. He was known for his strong convictions, great sense of humor, and vibrant personality. He was a proud conservative.

Robert enjoyed video games, the Green Bay Packers Football, British comedy, movies, and especially loved cats. He was a camp counselor in both Indiana and Arizona.

Robert is survived by his children, Riana Teagan Christensen and Erik Dane Christensen, both of La Porte; his siblings, Carolyn (James, deceased) Friend of La Porte, Wendy (Paul) Ihms of Gilbert, Arizona, and Audrey (Donny) Rossetti of Valparaiso; his nieces and nephews, Cassandra Johnson, Caitlin Westphal, Courtney Nielsen, Brooke Frontczak, Taylor Rossetti, and Braedon Rossetti; as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
