Mary Beatrice (Mickey) Borg, 101, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

She was born on December 12, 1924, in La Porte to the late Maurice and Mary Ellen (Daley) Heatherson.

After graduating from high school, Mickey attended St. Margaret's School of Nursing in Hammond, Indiana, where she received her R.N. degree. After her training, she began working at Holy Family and Fairview Hospitals doing private duty. She continued her career as a school nurse for the La Porte Community School System, where she remained until her retirement in 1989.

She was a devoted member of Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and her Bridge Club. Mickey also found great joy in tending to her yard and spending time outdoors.

On July 16, 1949, Mickey married James A. Borg, who preceded her in death on March 23, 2002. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jan Deutscher of Michigan City and Patty L. (Bill) Gangwer of La Porte; her grandchildren, Katie Deutscher, Chris (Julia) Deutscher, Anne Deutscher, Scott Deutscher, Michael (Amy) Gangwer, and Meg (Kirby) Bundy; and her great-grandchildren, Hudson, Copeland, Veda, Drake, Winston, and Eloise. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Morey Heatherson, LaVerne McQuiston, Pete Heatherson, and her son-in-law, Dennis Deutscher.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church, 109 C Street, La Porte, Indiana.

Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
