James Allen Lanie, 86, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 6:03 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.
Per Jim's request, cremation will take place.  Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born July 4, 1939, in Browns Valley, Minnesota, to the late Henry, Jr., and Elizabeth (Bangle) Lanie. On October 10, 1959, in La Porte, Indiana, he married Hilde Dilp, who survives, in Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are son, Corren "Corey" (Tracy) Lanie of Apopka, Florida; two
grandchildren, Courtney Lanie of New York City, New York, and Connor
(Melinda) Lanie of Alaska.
Jim retired after 27 years from Hitachi Global Air Power/Sullair Mfg. Michigan City, Indiana, as a tool maker.  Jim was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana.  He enjoyed gardening and tinkering in his garage.  He was also a veteran of the US Army.
