Lawrence "Larry" Francis McCourt

Lawrence "Larry" Francis McCourt, 84, of La Porte, IN, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Brickyard Healthcare-Terrace Care Center.
Larry was born on May 13, 1941, in Detroit, MI, to Joseph and Julia (Beste) McCourt.
Surviving are his son, Adam McCourt of Seattle, WA; sisters, Kaye Douglass of Kokomo, Annie (Bruce) Jackson of Baraboo, WI, and Arlene (Dave) Phillips of La Porte; niece, Kristie (Jerry Weathers) Watkins of La Porte; great-nephew, Evan J. Weathers of La Porte; great-niece, Erica J. Watkins of South Bend; brother, Vincent (Elsie) McCourt of Elkhart; 4th brother, Bud (Elaine) Wetzel of Warsaw: as well as numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and dear neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Janell Douglass; brother-in-law, Jim Douglass; nephew, Brian Doherty; niece's husband, Ali Canca; and niece's son, Sadur Canca.
Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was self-employed as a landscaper and thoroughly enjoyed his work. Larry enjoyed classical music, was an avid reader, and loved researching the family tree with his sister, Kaye Douglass. Larry loved his family. He was a devoted father and friend to all he met.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. (3 p.m. EST) at Galveston Cemetery, 12574 S. Co. Rd. 1000 E., Galveston, IN.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
