Lillian L. Gondeck

Lillian L. Gondeck, 92, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 11:21 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Northwest Health Porter.

She was born in La Porte on May 28, 1933, to Oscar and Hannah (Silja) Miller.On November 25, 1989, in La Porte, she married Edward Gondeck, who survives.

Lillian lived a very active life. She was a member of Bethany Church and sang in the choir. Lillian served as past President of 463 GOP and was a past member of Amateur Music Club and Michigan City Moose Auxiliary. She worked for many years at the LaPorte CourtHouse and served as the Auditor. She also worked at the State Highway and finally at the LaPorte Police Department. She loved to read all the way to the end and especially enjoyed crime books. Lillian loved music, especially the oldies, orchestra, big band and church hymns. She also enjoyed decorating for every season, sewing, ironing, gardening, baking cookies and loved sunflowers. Lillian loved to fly, take family vacations and always wanted to parachute from a plane. She was a huge Cubs fan and liked being with her family at the ballpark. Lillian had a big heart and was always willing to help someone in need, if you were hungry, she made sure you were fed, needed a place to stay; she had a bed. She was known to everyone as their “Neenie”. She was the glue that held the family together and she was deeply invested in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian was greatly loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Also surviving are her children, Karl L. (Donna) Evory, of Indianapolis, Kandi (Terry) Lane, of Toledo, Illinois, Kevin (Jill) Evory, of Palm Springs, CA, Kelly Evory, of La Porte, and Kara (John) Butcher, of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Jason (Mindy) Lane, Jacob Lane, Taylor (Bernadette) Evory, Bryan (Brianna) Michaels, Eric Evory, Elizabeth Evory, Hannah Butcher, Noah (Jordan) Butcher, and Emelia Evory(Grant Collins); great-grandchildren, Natalie Lane, Lexi Lane, Aria Butcher, Elliot Butcher and Baby Michaels on the way.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Kuhn and Hazel Lubs.

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, (219) 362-3333 with pastor Dennis Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. Burial will be at Carmel Cemetery in La Porte.
