Marlin Stephen “Steve” Garner, February 26, 1958 - January 23, 2026.
Steve Garner, 67, Michigan City, Indiana, passed peacefully Friday, January 23, 2026, surrounded in love by his children.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturday, at the funeral chapel, with a service at 12:00pm, with Pastor Jaccara Williams officiating. A repast/luncheon will immediately follow the service.
Steve was born February 26, 1958, in Michigan City, IN, to the late O.Z. and Phebia (Boone) Garner.
Surviving are one sister, Doris Garner of Ft. Wayne, IN, his children Stephen Garner and Stephanie Garner of Michigan City, IN, Ian (Melissa) Garner of McKinney, TX, Grandchildren Dionte (Zhane) Garner, Brooklynn Garner both of Michigan City, IN, and Ian II, Isabella, and Micah Garner, all of McKinney, TX, and great-grandchildren Adonis and Zendaya Garner of Michigan City, IN.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Steve proudly worked for 35 years as a firefighter in Michigan City, IN. Steve also worked as a counselor at a behavioral hospital for more than 20 years. He was a graduate Rogers High School in Michigan City, where he excelled in football and baseball.
Steve was well known for being a kind, friendly, and gentle man. His best work was seen, though, through the eyes and hearts of those who called him Dad, and Paw Paw.
Steve was a loyal friend to his childhood “partners”, whose friendship remained bonded until his last days.
