Nickolas Louis Mazzaia II

Nickolas Louis Mazzaia II, 61, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 1:52 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2025, at Northwest Health in La Porte.

He was born on January 18, 1964, in Michigan City, to Nickolas and Nellie (Perez) Mazzaia.

On November 16, 1985, in Otis, he married the love of his life, Rebecca Lynn Turner, who survives after 40 years of marriage.

Nickolas enjoyed fishing, bonfires, good food, and treasured time spent with his family above all else.

Those who knew Nick best understood that beneath a tough exterior was a man with a big heart. He was very generous and enjoyed showering his family with gifts.

Nick will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his quiet acts of love, and the way he showed up when it mattered most. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love and legacy will live on in all who knew him.

Also surviving are his son, Nickolas L. (Vanessa) Mazzaia; grandchild, Finn Mazzaia; sisters, Debra Mayfield and Cathy (James) Pearce; many nieces and nephews; childhood friend and fishing buddy, Adam Kintzele.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Carl Mayfield.

Visitation and viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026, at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave, La Porte, (219) 362-3333. Cremation will follow.
