Lorraine A. Chango, 80, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away in her sleep on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at her home in Michigan City, Indiana, after a long period of poor health.
A memorial service celebrating Lorraine's life will be announced at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana 46360, is handling arrangements.
She was born on October 20, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Joseph and Tessie Sloger. On June 7, 1969, in Philadelphia, PA, she married Ron Chango, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.
She was a beloved wife of fifty-six years to Ron; mother to Christine, Matt, and Valerie, grandmother to Sophia, Sarah, Hadley, Gabriella, Hunter, and Ben. Lorraine was an RN and had worked for years, including at the VNA and the Porter County Health Department. She had many interests but principally loved to visit cities, here and abroad, to explore the cultures and, particularly, liked to visit art museums. She and Ron had a lifelong interest in foreign language films and had seen and collected many hundreds.
A native of Philadelphia, she also lived in Buffalo, New York, before moving to the Midwest in 1983. She is further survived by her in-laws and cousins on the East Coast. She was a woman of remarkable kindness and generosity who will be missed forever.
