Kenneth J. “Coach” Cook, 77, of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at 3:40 p.m. at Addison Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center, Chesterton, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Brother Shaun Gray officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the funeral chapel.
He was born on November 1, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Joseph Edward and Helen (Mizia) Cook.
Surviving are his daughter, Christine Cook of Valparaiso, Indiana; son, Kenneth (Leanne Washluske) Cook of Michigan City, Indiana; two grandchildren, Ariel (David) Deman of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Joseph Cook of Michigan City, Indiana; and two great-grandchildren, Oaklynn and Krew. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tom Cook.
Kenneth, known and loved by everyone as “Coach,” worked as a welder for many years before finding his true passion as a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School in Long Beach, Indiana. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He loved listening to music and watching sports, especially as a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. Above all, he cherished teaching, coaching children, and spending time with his family.
