Nelson Alvarado, 80, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 8:13 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN, with Rev. David Kime officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church Legacy Center.
He was born April 29, 1945, in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, to the late Bolivar and Rosa Maria (Rodriguez) Alvarado.
Surviving are his wife, Eneida Guzman of Michigan City, IN; two daughters, Eneida (Floyd) Morris of Stevensville, MI, and Belinda Alvarado of Michigan City, IN; son, Nelson (Crystal) Alvarado, Jr. of Michigan City, IN; three grandchildren, Dana Malkowski, Brandon Malkowski, and Brooklyn Alvardo; and four great-grandchildren, Alonzo, Diego, Liliana and Xiomara.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sonia Alvarado, and brother, Juan Alvarado.
Nelson was a retired Truck Driver. He was a faithful member of the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, where he was an Eucharistic Minister and sang in the Spanish Choir. He enjoyed music, gardening, fishing, and playing Dominoes. Nelson was known for the world's best pancakes and for his coleslaw.
